How to make your own 'Hand Clarinet'

1. First, cut a thin strip of paper to form your paper reed - around 21 cm long and 3mm wide...

2. After that hold the top section between your finger and thumb to steady it...

3. Grasp the base of the paper reed between the base of your thumbs...

4. Use your fingers to stretch the paper reed tight between your thumb base and  thumb nail top...

5. Bring your hands to your mouth and gently blow through your thumbs and it should sound a little like this...!

Don't worry if you snap the paper, just make another one!

Try using wider/ narrower strips or a harder/ softer air flow - does it make a difference to the sound/ pitch/ tone?
